Interested in developing a green micro-enterprise or community / social enterprise?

County Wicklow Partnership is launching a new course called Permaculture Skills Exchange. The course aims to encourage green micro-business and social enterprise ideas through permaculture design and the development of green skills.  Permaculture Design is a method of understanding natural systems and resource use in order to create sustainable human activities.

The Permaculture Skills exchange programme is aimed at people who may be unemployed or under-employed, recently graduated or even early retired and are interested in finding something new and positive to do in their lives and to contribute to their communities.

Commencing on the 17th April 2012 the course will be run in Glenealy for 16 days over an 8 week period on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2.30pm.  Topics covered include woodland skills (including woodland management and uses and green woodworking), natural building (including cob and lime) and much more.

There will be input from skilled tutors and local experts such as Declan Little of Woodlands of Ireland and Richard Webb a lecturer in Sustainable Design from DIT, but much of the course takes place outside and is hands on and practical in nature. In addition, participants are encouraged to exchange their own skills and knowledge throughout the course with a view to developing green initiatives.

This course will be supported by County Wicklow Partnership through the LEADER / Rural Development Programme.  If you would like to participate in this course please contact County Wicklow Partnership on 0402 20955 or info@wicklowpartnership.ie by Friday the 13th of April 2012.
